Description including Unit Aims

This unit will cover basic concepts of muscle mechanics and mechanobiology, especially the relationships between microarchitecture of collagenous tissues and their ability to withstand applied stress. The unit will also cover principles of gait mechanics and energetics in bipedal and quadrupedal species, from the standpoint of kinematics, morphometrics and ground reaction forces, and the resultant joint mechanics.
