Description including Unit Aims

The unit aims to delve deeper into some of the techniques of cryptography and the underlying ideas behind them. The concept of digital signatures, commitment schemes and zero-knowledge proofs will be introduced. Various applications will be given such as Voting or e-Cash and the notion of provable security will be explored in the context of signature schemes. Advanced analysis of symmetric ciphers will be introduced, notably differential cryptanalysis and non-linear combiners for stream ciphers.
