Description including Unit Aims

The science of natural hazards will be explored through the use of both recent and historical case studies to illuminate the dynamic physical processes that are present in hurricanes, tornadoes, lightening, earthquakes, tsunami, volcanism, forest fires, impacts and natural climate shifts. Each event type will be explored during the lecture series within the context of hazard mitigation through a better understanding of the controlling processes.
