In Design Project 4 each student will undertake part of a large project as an individual activity. The project will be designed to give each student an opportunity to develop expertise in a technical field that will later provide valuable input during execution of EMATM0028 Design Project 5. Each student&s project will have separate objectives and reporting. The project will involve investigation into the design, and analysis of existing designs of a type of artefact, component or system. The conception and development of physical or virtual models will be used to improve understanding. The student will be expected to become a specialist in the design of the chosen artefact, component or system. The project will include an appreciation of the economic justification of a system and other evaluation methodologies used for engineering projects.
