This unit investigates the wealth of connections between Florentine private palace building and a range of social and political factors during the Florentine Renaissance. The unit spans the late thirteenth century and the beginning of the sixteenth century, and comprises visits to all the palaces studied, including those of the Medici, Strozzi, Rucellai and Pitti families. This unit is offered through the History of Art Study Abroad Programme in Florence.
