A period of residence abroad equivalent to the whole University of Bristol academic year, two-thirds of which is to be spent in a Spanish-speaking country and one-third in a Portuguese- or Catalan-speaking country (according to the choice of language made in year 2). Students will either study at a University or similar institution or work on an agreed placement. During this time, two dissertations are to be written: one of 8,000 words in Spanish and one of 4,000 words in Portuguese or Catalan.
