Description including Unit Aims

The unit aims include consolidation and further development of the language structures and functions acquired in Japanese Intermediate LANG31046. Students will build on their existing language competence and further develop language structures across all skills at a post intermediate level. Particular emphasis will be placed on the skills necessary for effective oral, written and reading communication in the target language at a post intermediate level. This unit includes: •Communication skills: the ability to understand and use a range of different registers across the language skills •The use of Japanese for specific purposes, including academic writing, business and professional language and scientific language •further extension of more complex grammatical structures •development of knowledge of the vocabulary used in everyday and business and professional language •further mastery of the use of Japanese characters •continued exposure to cultural and social aspects of the language •use of e-learning: keeping an online learning diary, using an online blog, using Japanese computer keyboards
