An introductory unit taught across both teaching blocks designed for those who have little or no previous knowledge of Latin, and aiming to teach students the techniques of reading straightforward Latin texts with the aid of a dictionary and reference grammar. Initially students will be introduced to the workings of an inflected language and the grammatical terms used to analyse it. They will later apply their knowledge of the language to the analysis of a text relevant to their area of research.
