Environmental Quality

Aims:

  1. Provide a knowledge of the physical, chemical and biological quality of water, land and air and appropriate standards for their treatment:
  2. Provide a knowledge of the possible environmental pollutants, the effects of these pollutants on the physical, chemical and biological quality of water, land and air.
  3. Examine ways of measuring pollution and measures to minimise its impact:

Intended Learning Outcomes

  1. Critically evaluate the relative impacts of various pollutants on each medium and the implications for cross media transfer:
  2. Analyse and apply appropriate strategies for dealing with a pollution problem involving at least two media:
  3. Assess the impact on the quality of the environment of activities at work or in the community.
