This new unit will be offered to students in the MSci, Geography and MSc Society and Space programmes. It will also be made available to other Faculty of Social Science and Law students as part of the Southwest Doctoral Training Centre. The rationale for the unit is to provide students at the postgraduate level with an advanced introduction to key theoretical debates over the status of the $human& in pre- and post-Enlightenment social science.
This unit aims: To introduce key currents in humanist and post-humanist thinking within the social sciences To enable students to engage critically with a wide range of theoretically and empirically-focused material To analyse the assumptions that underpin concepts of the $human& in both humanist and posthumanist thinking
