Description including Unit Aims

This module aims to allow students to analyse critically published data and to develop, initiate and complete research protocols relevant to the students’ clinical settings.

Intended Learning Outcomes

  • Having completed this module students will be able to:-
  • analyse and critically review published data
  • explain the scope, methods and limitations of meta-analyses and systematic reviews
  • explain the principles of clinical trials methodology
  • formulate a research problem relevant to the clinical setting
  • produce a practical study protocol
  • make appropriate use of statistical advice
