No formal prerequisites. However, a working knowledge of the main themes of Islam will be required and experience of working in a Muslim context would be an advantage. Preparatory required reading will be provided for those who have little prior knowledge of Islam. |

The unit will comprise a study of Islam in Britain, including:
a) globalisation, post-colonialism and the new Muslim presence; b) historical difficulties in Christian-Muslim relationships; c) how the Islamic tradition works illuminated from the English context.
The unit will then explore Christian engagement with Islam in Britain, including:
a) the different models of theological and missiological engagement; b) churches and emerging patterns of engagement with Muslim communities in different contexts; c) national, regional and local initiatives enabling constructive and critical collaboration.
