The course aims to provide an understanding of the fundamentals of gas turbine and aircraft performance. A general knowledge of gas turbines and the basic principles of gas flow are assumed. At the end of the course, candidates will have a working knowledge of: How a gas turbine behaves; How engine cycles are designed and verified; How the whole engine is modelled; How engine control is used to achieve performance; The candidate will also understand the fundamentals of the performance of fixed and rotary wing aircraft.
