Description including Unit Aims

This Unit examines the various languages, vocabularies and theories which describe literary relations. It also involves a number of case studies, with Shakespeare as focus.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Participants will attain to a good knowledge of particular instances of literary relations. More importantly, they will be aware of the range and divergence of the ways in which literary relations are discussed, and will have some knowledge of the differing aesthetic, philosophical and political assumptions underlying such divergences.
