Prepare students to perform independent research in robotics and autonomous systems
On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to: 1. Critically evaluate developments in robotics and autonomous systems. 2. Identify, access and interpret state-of-the-art research literature. Communicate research findings, orally and in written form, to both specialist and general audiences.
Research methods lectures; reading group seminars;
•Research methods including communications: 1hr/wk in TB1
•Reading group: 1hr/wk in TBs 1 and 2
And 48 hrs of reading for reading group, plus 66 hrs of private study and preparation of research proposal
•20% - participation in reading group wiki (summative)
•30% - presentations to reading group (formative and summative)
•50% - research proposal (summative)
